Saturday night 30/07/22

We were recommended to try this taverna by a friend, so we thought we would give it a go, and we weren’t disappointed.

A 10 minute walk from Paphos harbour and 20 minutes from the King’s st mall/shopping centre, it’s approximately 100 meters along a little side street, if you weren’t looking for it you would walk past.

Paphos “Street food”.

The taverna itself is on one side of the road with some covered area seating alongside it, however as it is very warm in the evenings here, we chose to sit on the quaint little table section on the opposite side of the street.

It is the equivalent of “Street food ” and took us back to the Paphos of old, that we fell in love with 20 years ago.

We were greeted by a lovely lady and gentleman, who we assume were the owners the gentleman being the chef/cook, the place itself is typically traditional of the old style grill/taverna, basic but exceptionally well done food. You can watch them cook on the grill while enjoying a glass of the local wine, the food is all cooked fresh and to order, the fish is kept on ice and you can pick your fish if you want.

The menu is mostly from the grill either meat or fish, all very nice, we were told that they do exceptional calamari here so we ordered two dishes of this as a main course. 15 minutes later it was served, the salad and chips that it came with were fresh and homemade the calamari itself was unbelievable, the batter was light and crunchy and the squid was fresh and cooked to perfection.

We can’t recommend this place highly enough, if you want a no frills, no fuss, traditional Cypriot meal and surroundings with pleasant staff , beautiful food and reasonable prices.

We will definitely be going back!!!
